Season Eight Kickoff

We're off! Season 8 of NCIS is under way. I'm Gary Glasberg, Executive Producer, and I'm thrilled to be welcoming you back for another action-packed, emotional, entertaining season of the #1 scripted drama on television. We have some very exciting stories planned as well as some true surprises. Everyone here at the show is thrilled to be back. And I'd like to take a moment to introduce a new writer/producer joining our family, Nicole Mirante-Matthews. She'll be delivering an episode to you in November. Until then there's a lot to look forward to. The season will open answering the question, "What happened to Jackson Gibbs?" I wrote the opener myself and genuinely hope you enjoy the ride. After that, we've got episodes coming from Steve Binder, Schenck and Cardea, Reed Steiner, Chris Waild, and something very exciting from Jesse Stern. Not only are surprises in-store for Tony, but Ziva is in for some unexpected visitors as well. Read into the title of the first episode, "Spider and the Fly" as you will. Just know that we're working hard to make season 8 of NCIS one of our best years ever.

In the coming months, following each original airing, check back for some behind-the-scenes info on the episode you just watched. Tidbits from the writers that I hope will provide some interesting insight into how we, as a team, put this show together.

Until then, get the kids back to school, unpack your fall clothing, dust off your remote control, and get ready for our season premiere on September 21st!

Favorite Quote:
Kate: I was in the Secret Service, we tend to get all hot and bothered over large numbers of $100 bills.
Tony: Is that what does it for you?

Tony: (about to send drug kingpins to Gitmo as suspected terrorists) You do not have the right to remain silent. You do not have the right to an attorney. If you want an attorney, you won't get an appointment to see one. Do you understand these rights you don't have?

Tony: Are you sure? I knew a granny in Baltimore hid a kilo of H in her horse's rectum.
Kate: No horse on the boat, Tony.

Tony: Well that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling doesn't it?
Gerald: What?
Tony: That Gibbs trusts us with a contaminated crime scene.

Tony: Excuse me. You'll need to stand clear so I can take measurements for my crime scene sketches. Thanks.
Kate: Sketches? You've taken a dozen photos.
Tony: [Picks up a men's magazine] Tell me her measurements.
Kate: You're pathetic.
Tony: No, I'm serious. Can you tell if she's 5'4 and a 34C or 5'7 and a 36D? You can't. Not from a photo. That's why we do sketches and take measurements. Thanks.
[Later]
Ducky: I thought your photo analysis was brilliant, Tony, but isn't 36D a bit of wishful thinking?
Tony: You think?

Story Line

NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is more than just an action drama. With liberal doses of humor, it's a show that focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations.

NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), a former Marine gunnery sergeant, whose skills as an investigator are unmatched, formerly led this troupe of colorful personalities. Gibbs, a man of few words, only needs a look to explain it all.

The team includes NCIS Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), an ex-homicide detective who may come off as the world's oldest frat boy, but whose instincts in the field are unparalleled; forensic specialist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), a talented scientist whose dark wit matches her Goth style and eclectic tastes, NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), an MIT graduate whose brilliance with computers far overshadows his insecurities in the field and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), a former Mossad agent who shares a bond with Gibbs over the death of his arch nemesis, Ari, the terrorist who killed former NCIS Special Agent Kate Todd.

Assisting the team is medical examiner Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum), who knows it all because he's seen it all, and he's not afraid to let you know. Rounding out the team is the new NCIS director, Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll), who constantly challenges Gibbs with his no-nonsense attitude. From murder and espionage to terrorism and stolen submarines, these special agents travel the globe to investigate all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties.
